Hospitalist Program

What is a Hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a doctor who works at the hospital and only takes care of patients who are in the hospital. They are available around the clock and can answer any questions you or your family have about your care. The hospitalist will work with you, other physicians and hospital staff members to coordinate your care.

  • Why isn't my regular doctor seeing me in the hospital?

Your doctor has asked the hospitalist to take care of you while you are in the hospital.

  • How will the hospitalist know what is wrong with me?

Your doctor will work with the hospitalist and give him or her all the information needed to treat your medical condition.

  • Will I still see the hospitalist after I go home?

No, you will go back to your regular doctor. Since the hospitalist has kept your doctor informed of what happened with your hospital stay, your physician will be able to continue the care you need.
