Andy's Story with Colon Cancer
When Andy Carpenter went in for a routine colonoscopy with Dr. Reynolds at Clark Regional Medical Center, he didn’t expect to need surgery. But when the results came back, he was quickly referred to Dr. Lucas Wright, general surgeon, who recommended a robotic procedure. “It was a lot to take in, but from that moment on, I felt like I was in the best hands possible,” stated Andy.
Dr. Wright performed the surgery using advanced robotic technology, which allowed for a minimally invasive approach, faster recovery and reduced risk of infection—a perfect fit for someone like Andy, who leads a physically demanding life as both a concrete foreman and a farmer.
“Dr. Wright walked me through everything with clarity and compassion. He performed the surgery robotically, which made a world of difference,” Andy said. “The robotic approach meant a quicker recovery and a lower risk of infection—something that was incredibly important to me as someone who works hard every day, both on the job site and on the farm.”
Just three weeks post-op, Andy was back doing what he loves—working the land and leading his crew. “That’s something I never thought would be possible so soon. I’m beyond grateful for the care I received, and I can’t thank my family and the medical staff enough for their support through it all,” said Andy. “Clark Regional Medical Center gave me more than just great medical care—they gave me my life back."
